SO KOON CHIU. 20 years.
Tallyman employed by the HANG FAT Transportation Coy, 3rd floor of the Bank of East Asia Building, Born at TONG CHUEN Village, SHUN TAK District, States:-
I have been in Hong Kong for the past 16 months after my arrival in Hong Kong I was unemployed. The next 3 months I studied English at the SAN AH School. No.? Nathan Road.
After leaving the school I was unemployed until about one month ago when I got the job as tallyman with the HANG FAT Transportation Coy. My father named SO SAU LIN resides at
24, Tung Choi Street, ground floor.
I have known CHAN CHOI the cargo agent since my
employment at the HANG FAT Firm.
My work consists of checking cargo onto cargo junks
in Hong Kong and on its arrival in Chinese territory I again make a check to see if the cargo is correct.
Before leaving Hong Kong with a cargo a cable is sent
by the HANG FAT Coy in Hong Kong to the HANG FAT Coy in Canton,
street unknown. I believe the procedure is then for HANG FAT
in Canton to send junks loaded with cargo to NAM TAU where the
cargo from Hong Kong is unloaded and the cargo from Canton is taken on board and conveyed to Hong Kong. The receipts in
connection with any cargo aboard our junks are handed over to CHAN CHOI. I don't know whether he gets the receipts from the
HANG FAT Firm or whether he gets them from the cargo owners.
I don't know the man mentioned LAM CHUNG referred to
by my foki CHAN CHOI.
At about 08.30 hours on the 22.1.40 I was on board
one of the two junks which was being towed by the Steam Launch
KWAI HING off CHEK WAN when I heard the siren of the Stea
Launch KWAI HING blow two blasts. At the time the siren sounded
I was in the cabin. I came out on deck and saw CHAN CHOI, the
